Thought Provoking Is Talk Provoking—A Starting Point for Making a Difference
The conference slogan, “Awakening Curiosity to Conserve and Protect” is based on the simple idea that, done well, interpretation has a role to play in motivating people to care about and to take care of special places and important things. To some degree, “protection” of anything requires human beings who are motivated to do (or not do) certain things. In this presentation, Sam Ham shares his thoughts about a source of this motivation (where does “caring” come from?) and how real-world interpreters might harness it to make a difference with their work.
