As a child growing in the urban landscape of Los Angeles, the summers spent at “sleep-away” camp gave me my first exposure to the power of interpretation. Ever since those early days of sitting around the campfire and being led on nature hikes and trail rides, the magic and majesty of “The Great Outdoors” came alive to me through the stories I heard and demonstrations I watched. In particular, I have childhood memories of camping at Big Bear Lake, Lake Arrowhead, Lassen Volcanic National Park and Yosemite. California was a wonderful backdrop for a life spent in awe and honor for our natural heritage sites.
Joining NAI as sales manager allows me to come full circle and once again puts those vistas “front and center.” I am able to put my skills and talents to work for an organization that walks its talk. I am very proud to be a part of this great team.
My responsibilities will be to manage commercial memberships and sales of advertising, workshop exhibit hall booths, books in the association store, NAI logo clothing, and other items related to NAI's mission. I will seek to match sponsors with appropriate opportunities at NAI's annual national workshop and international conference.
I plan to
grow the influence of Legacy magazine by increasing its circulation and advertising base. The vision we hold for this beautiful publication is for it to be the “National Geographic” of the interpretation world.
I encourage you to contact me with any ideas or references of folks who could help us with these efforts.
