Tim Cox was a dynamic, energetic and vibrant man with a zest for and love
of life that few experience. He was a devoted husband and father, and a
friend to so many. Tim was always willing to drop whatever he was doing
without hesitation to help others in any way that he could.
Tim was a dedicated member of the Colorado Mountain Club for many years.
Pursing his love for wildflowers, he became a Certified Plant Master and
thereafter taught for many years in the CMC Wild Plant School and led
numerous popular wildflower identification hikes. He, with his wife Susan,
was a senior instructor in the Wilderness Trekking School, where he not
only
taught his students survival, preparedness, stewardship and other skills,
but also instilled in them his love and respect for the environment.
Tim and his family moved to Denver in the 1970s. Along his career path, he
worked in a variety of jobs, including several years with the Denver Museum
of Nature and Science. He spent his last twelve years working for the State
of Colorado in the Department of Human Services, from which he retired in
September of 2005. In May of 2006, Tim signed on with the U.S. Forest
Service as an Interpretive Guide, teaching visitors to Mt. Evans about the
ecology, geology, history, wildlife and environment of the area.
Tim died tragically in an accident on September 28, 2006. He leaves behind
his wife Susan, his daughter Candace and his son Brad. He will be sorely
missed by his family and the many friends who knew and came to love him.
