Join Tim Merriman Ph.D., NAI’s executive director, and Lisa Brochu, NAI’s associate director for two days of interactive instruction on how to develop an annual business plan for your organization. Through discussion and hands-on activities, you’ll learn how to:
• assess your market niche
• write a great mission statement
• write goals and logic model objectives to measure your success
• evaluate your current activities
• propose new initiatives
• develop a budget for new or ongoing operations
• create corporate culture around your business plan
• monitor progress throughout the year
• use your business plan as a springboard for financial development activities
• develop new revenue streams
and much, much more. Whether you work for a government agency or a not-for-profit institution, if you are a manager needing to organize your activities and finances for the coming year, this workshop is for you.
Workshop Instructors
In his almost 40 years in the interpretive field, Tim has worked for a variety of employers ranging from a federal agency to a nature center, including 13 years as the executive director of NAI. His extraordinary experience in these settings has made him a unique resource for helping organizations plan and run their business activities successfully. Lisa has spent over 30 years in the field of interpretation, with 25 of those as a full-time consultant for interpretive planning, training, and writing projects that included work for government agencies, not-for-profit organizations, and for-profit ventures.
Workshop Schedule
The workshop runs for two days, September 15 and 16, from 8-5 each day. You need to leave Fort Collins approximately 3 hours before flight time to make an evening flight out, so you may want to stay over Friday night and enjoy a day in the mountains on your own on Saturday.

The Armstrong Hotel in Old Town Fort Collins has reserved a block of rooms for our participants at the rate of $79/night, single. You may call the Armstrong at (970) 484-3883 or toll free at (866) 384-3883 by August 28, 2008 .
