The CIM workshop is designed for those individuals who need to brush up their management, supervisory, and leadership skills. The 5-day workshop, taught by Tim Merriman, NAI Executive Director, and Lisa Brochu, NAI Associate Director, focuses on developing good business skills for management of interpretive sites.
Workshop Information
The workshop features segments on meeting management, conflict resolution, business planning, budgeting, contract administration, leadership, staff evaluation and coaching, strategic planning, and more. Participants will develop a business plan during the workshop. The plan will be presented at the end of the workshop.
Certification is optional. Anyone can take this course, regardless of whether or not certification is desired. Many people choose to take the course to learn more about business plans or leadership/supervisory skills and do not attempt certification. Either approach is acceptable, however, presentation of the business plan will be videotaped and can be used to fulfill one of the requirements for certification as a manager in NAI's professional certification program. Participants can also complete the Part 1 certification exam at the workshop, working in small groups to complete the test. Participants will still need to complete their Part 2 (essay) exam and the other required evidences of performance within one year of receiving their certification packet to finalize certification.
