OVERVIEW
NAI offers a number of opportunities to participate in member activities around the globe.

NAI International Conference

Each spring, this conference brings together delegates from up to 40 nations to create opportunities for professional development for attendees and establish a network for professional associations and individuals involved in heritage interpretation around the globe. Past conferences have been located in San Juan, Puerto Rico (2006) and Vancouver, Canada (2007). Our next conferences will be scheduled in Sokcho, Korea (2008) and Greece (2009).

Ecotour Program

NAI's ecotours bring participants to such exotic locales as the Amazon, the Serengeti, and the Galapagos Islands. This is a fee-based program open to NAI members, friends, and families. If you've ever wanted to take an ecotour, this is the best opportunity to take one with like-minded people who understand what you do. NAI's ecotours usually include behind-the-scenes programming you won't find on any other commercial tour, with guides that are often NAI members themselves. Look here to see what's next and browse photos of past trips.

Museums of Malawi
At NAI we always hope that our training, networking, and certification will elevate the ability of professionals to do their work. Money is the most frequent limiting factor in many programs. We could all do with more financial resources. In Malawi a dollar buys mosquito netting for the bed of a child. Malawi Museum programs deliver the netting and teach villagers how to use it and why it protects from night-active mosquitoes bearing malaria.

Volunteer Sign-up

NAI's volunteer program is designed to fulfill requests for professional assistance from other countries. Though we do not seek out opportunities, NAI and its members are often looked to as a source of professional advice. Previous requests have included development of an interpretive plan for the Badaling International Friendship Forest at the foot of the Great Wall in China; training and lectures in Korea; training courses for interpreters and interpretive planning at Sichuan University and China World Heritage Site managers; consultation for development of living history at The Forbidden City in Beijing; and exhibit planning and sign design at the Wolong Panda Reserve in China.

Organizations or countries that request assistance must also provide funding to support travel and expenses for NAI teams that work on short-term projects (labor is not paid). If you would like to volunteer to serve on one of those teams as projects become available, fill out an application to place your name in NAI's international volunteer database.
