Volunteer Information

Volunteer Positions
Please check below any volunteer positions that interest you. Please put any specific days and/or times in the previous field.

Auction Item Check-In
Assists auction donors in filling out form; logs in auction items and assigns each item a number; enters data into computer.

Auction Item Order Monitor
Determines order of sale of auction items and ensures that stutters get out the items in logical order for live auction.
Auction Cashier Assistant
Looks up bidder auction cards, tallies total amount spent by individual bidders and collects that amount. Must be able to make change and use a credit card machine.
Auction “Hupper”
Assists auctioneer by identifying those individual bidders who are bidding on a given item. Must have a strong loud voice, be focused and not be shy in crowds.
Auction: Occasional Auctioneer
Auctions off items brought to him or her by the strutters; attempts to get bidders to pay as much as possible for items; describe items to bidders and talk to bidders about the benefits of the scholarship auction
Auction Price Drop Monitors
Staff the price drop booth; inform bidders of how the system works; ring the bell at half hour time intervals; take bid sheets to cashier table after each bell
Auction Set up Crew
Assist auction chair with setting up the live and silent auction items, bell auction items, and cashier line.
Silent Auction Monitors
Staffs silent auction area to answer questions and serve as “security” for the items on the silent auction table; picks up bid sheets at the close of the auction; identifies winners and enters information into the database
Auction Strutter
Assists auctioneer by showing individual items through the audience; if a particular bidder is interested in getting a closer look at an item, the strutter will take it over to where that person is sitting; in a heated bidding war the strutter is expected to walk the item between the bidders in the attempt to have bidders bid higher on the item
Audio-Visual Assistant
Assist NAI staff by placing audio visual equipment in each location where it is required then removing the equipment to storage at the end of the day; accounting for equipment at the end of each day.
Speaker Host/Room Monitor
Introduce concurrent session speakers to the audience and thank them with a gift from NAI; hands out and collects evaluation forms; posts “"session full" sign when room fills; assists with AV and anything else speaker needs;
Exhibit Hall Coordinator
Staffs exhibit hall to answer questions, troubleshoot or help exhibitors with needs.
Greeters/Ambassadors
Greet attendees as they arrive at the hotel by directing them to the hotel and conference registration areas; also greet attendees as they enter the opening reception.
IMI/Pre-Workshop Monitor

Marketplace of Ideas Monitor
Staffs Creative Corner to assist presenters with anything they might need.
Membership Table
Greet prospective members and talk to them about joining NAI.

Newsletter Circulation Assistant
Serves as “runner” for the newsletter staff by delivering newsletters under doors of NIW participants after they are printed each night; task will take place after 10 pm. (newsletter will be developed by publicity/promotions committee)

Poster Runner
Put up signage for each venue and outside each concurrent session room at the beginning of each day and makes sure signage changes as the sessions change.
Registration Assistant
Greet and register NAI members and their guests at the conference registration table.
Special Event Host
Staffs special events to ensure that the event is running smoothly and assists with anything that is needed for the event on-site
Ticket/Nametag Checker
Monitor doors at banquet to ensure that all attendees have purchased a ticket to the event and that everyone who enters the door has a ticket; checks nametags at keynote events to ensure that all who enter have proper name badges; makes certain that those who attend meal functions have proper tickets or name badges.
Volunteer sign-Up Table
Staffs table and encourages volunteers to sign up to assist with NIW tasks and works with the Ticket Trader table.
Media Awards Crew
Assists with set up and clean up of the media awards venue; ensures that award plaques that were not picked up are taken to the appropriate location (recruiting is handled through the VisCom committee)
