Associate Director
Certification
A full CIT workshop was held in Fort Collins the last week of July.
Another CIP workshop has been scheduled for December in Arizona to
be followed by a Host Trainers workshop. We are currently preparing
the workshop schedule for 2006 and will again attempt to hold at least
10 workshops for the professional categories.
The September CHI workshop was cancelled due to low numbers (only two
confirmed registrations by deadline). This workshop continues to be
challenging to fill, so we will be rethinking how we package and offer
this to experienced interpreters in the future.
International
IWH registration materials have been posted on the website. The conference
is expected to host between 150-200 people.
Tim and I will be in China delivering a training program from Sept
1-12. At the request of Kye Jong Cho, a member from South Korea, Tim
has put together an international volunteer team of 11 NAI members
from 5 countries to travel to South Korea from Sept 20-October 5. We
will be joining them immediately following our September CIT class
in Minneapolis (or on Sept 20 if our class cancels).
Contracts & Speaking
Engagements
I attended and spoke at a special planning session at the VSA conference
in Philadelphia that was well-received.
We are about 75% through the process for the RMRP planning project.
I have been asked to edit a document by NPS and provide technical consulting
advice to Condit Exhibits on two small projects (each of these jobs
is less than a day’s work).
Respectfully submitted,
Lisa Brochu
