Update by the Executive Director
Tim Merriman, Executive
Director
Budget
and Cash Flow
We have had a good start on 2005. This is always a slow period but membership
income has been steady. We have had surprising sales of $12,000+ in the Association
Store for the first month and that is way beyond normal. This has been a steady
growth area but the sale of certification library packages (6 books used in
the certification exam) has been especially good.
Grants
The long awaited USEPA grants in cooperation with NPS and USFWS are coming
through in the next few weeks. Both provide support for our staff time
in working on two projects, an Environmental Education curriculum study
with CSU and the Definitions Project working with other nonprofit associations
and the federal resource agencies.
Legacy
Trust Fund
This has started very slowly for the year, but we expect much more to happen
with it in the next few months. We have a site visit from the Executive Director
of the Boettcher Foundation in late February and hope it will lead to support
in the near future. For
more information on Legacy Trust Fund click here.
Networking
We continue to meet monthly in two different local networks. One involves the
CEOs and Development Directors for varied nonprofit organizations in the
Fort Collins community. The other includes our partners from NPCA and RMBO.
We use these brown bag lunch meetings as a chance to share fundraising
and management ideas. It has proven to be very popular.
I met with the EDCOM Board of
American Association of Museums in January and the Federal Interagency
Council on Interpretation. Both went very well.
