Update
by the Executive Director
Tim Merriman, Executive
Director
January 2007
Audit,
Budget and Cash Flow
The gross profit for 2006 is about $204,000
with recordkeeping about 99% complete. Auditors entries will
change that figure some when that is done in May, but we will
finish the year very solidly in the black with a substantial
surplus and real growth in our net assets of approximately $200,000.
Business Plan
The 2007 Business Plan is our first using a logic
model with projected ouput, outcome and impact objectives. We believe
the conservative budget and clear model for success will make it
a good year next year.
Grants
We are completing our grants projects with USEPA, NPS, ILI,
and USFWS for 2006 and will have a followup project related to
the CSU study of E.E. curricula in 2007. All funds have been received
by end of 2006, except for unbilled amounts of the more recent
NPS project.
Definitions Project
All four meetings held in 2006 have led to
development of the expected glossary of terms. The Definitions
Project group met by conference call on January 17 and a test website
will soon be posted to permit a final review. When that review
and any corrections are completed, we will go public with this
resulting website as a primary product for use by any organization
which needs the resulting information.
Journal of Interpretation Research
The second issue of the Journal
for 2006 has been edited and is being printed for delivery early
in 2007.
Legacy Trust Fund
Scholarship funds in the Bill Randall Fund are
invested in Royce, Muhlenkamp and Vanguard Funds. Updated reports
for the year-end will be posted by mid-February. The investments
yielded almost $7,000 in additional income on the $100,000 investment
since July, 2006, due to excellent returns with Vanguard Energy
Funds. NAI Investments.
Networking
I will lead the annual ecotour to the Galapagos Islands
in Ecuador from January 19 to 29, with 15 NAI members.
