3. Member Update

Membership at the end of February was 4619 with 127 new members and 289 renewals.

We our focusing much of our promotional efforts on increasing subscriptions for Legacy and The Interpreter. We will specifically focus on Associate and Student members. These categories constitute the lowest retention rate out of all of the membership categories.

We will try to do more promotional mailings early this year. The annual postcard mailing to remind members and non-members that the 2005 membership directory will be coming out soon has already gone out.

Please remember if you attend an event and you believe the attendees are a good fit with NAI, please pass the participant list on. We recently did a mailing to the attendees of the International Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies. Evie attended this meeting and sent us the participant list. It was only about a 200 person list, but still there was not that much crossover(i.e. there were only a few current NAI members on the list). Evie did speak to this group so they were aware of NAI and that always helps. Also, don’t hesitate to ask if you want us to send promotional materials to a conference that you are attending.

Sincerely,
Heather
