Legacy Trust Fund (LTF)
Current activity for 2005 in pledged and cash gifts directed to
LTF equals $7,615. Fundraising to LTF in 2004 totaled $71,474.40.
When this is added to the 1996 – 2003 contributions of $271,028.60,
the total amount raised equals $350,118.
Capital initiative:
Several individuals are considering a room naming opportunity that honors either
a family member or other individuals who have left a lasting impact on the world
of interpretation.
Three members have confirmed their assistance as participants of the Capital
Committee:
K.C. DenDooven, Evie Kirkwood and Tom Mullin. The committee will customize the
capital plan to best match our members’ interests with our organizational
needs.
Tim Schultz of the Boettcher Foundation of Colorado traveled to Fort Collins
for a site visit on March 1. He was impressed with the facility and with the
services that are rendered by NAI.
A quarterly update was sent to the Gates Family Foundation. It illustrated current
progress and plans for completion of the capital campaign.
Planned Giving
A planned giving manual is nearing completion for our members’ convenience
and review. It will be produced in-house, thereby making it an affordable and
customized product. The manual will illustrate a variety of planned giving vehicles
in a user-friendly format.
International Workshop 2006
Sponsorship and scholarship planning is taking place for the May 2006 International
Workshop held in Puerto Rico. Several residents of Puerto Rico are already distributing
materials to prospective businesses and agencies for underwritten support of
the conference. The confirmed total to date equals $15,400.
NIW 2005
Follow-up telephone calls were made to prospective NIW sponsors this month. The
target market includes: sponsors of the 2004 NIW, sponsors of the last five (5)
workshops, heritage agencies and businesses that are within a 200 mile radius
of Mobile, AL. New and return sponsors are voicing their endorsement. The confirmed
total to date equals $3,230.
Grants
Letters of support from outside organizations (the Fort Collins Downtown Development
Authority and the Rocky Mountain Raptor Center) were sent to the Bohemian Foundation
as endorsement for the $30,000 proposal submitted in February. The proposal targets
a conceptual planning grant that will bring collaboration to heritage non-profit
organizations in Fort Collins. Grant recipients will be announced in May.
A proposal of $25,000 was submitted to the Boettcher Foundation for capital support
directed to our LTF campaign. Once accepted, it will be utilized as a challenge
grant toward the remaining $295,000 needed for capital fulfillment.
The Gates Family Foundation report was met with a favorable reply from Karen
Mather. Their $45,000 challenge grant will be awarded after we secure the remaining
cash and pledged support that is needed for capital fulfillment.
The EPA grant is moving forward.
