Update by the Executive Director
Tim Merriman, Executive Director

Budget and Cash Flow
Membership income is still lower than projected and we continue to pursue promotional efforts to improve it. Memberships related to NIW 06 should help a lot as they start. Cash flow is good due to the international workshop in the spring and the early NIW 06 registration online.

Business Plan
Progress toward business plan objectives is steady but still not as we would hope except in the certification income category which is doing extremely well.

Building
The new parking area east of our building is finished and will be available during the Board meeting in June. It is beautiful and greatly adds to the appearance of our building. New leases will be arranged with tenants next month.

Grants
We have at least one grant pending still with Bohemian Foundation for $30,000 for planning of the RMRP Raptor Center facilities. We await the second half of the EPA Definitions grant and have potential for a large second grant with EPA on the EE Curriculum Project, which has just had Phase 1 finish for us. We will apply for the $20,000 plus payment from Gates Family Foundation later this month.

Definitions Project
June 1 and 2 will be the next meeting of the Definitions Project at the National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. All arrangements are made and we'll have more details on our progress at the Spring Board Meeting.

InterpPress
We continue to work on final editing of the new History of Interpretation book and hope to have it out in July.

Legacy Trust Fund
The Legacy Trust Fund total for 2006 thus far amounts to $8,285, which added to previous gifts has brought total support for the building fund to $739,331. We had an additional $25,000 restricted gift in 2005 as a Charitable Gift Annuity from Dick Taylor of Colorado Springs, Colorado. For more information on Legacy Trust Fund click here.

Networking
Networking at the Interpreting World Heritage meeting was excellent since the 160 attendees came from 32 countries. Lisa and I recently went to China with UNESCO Funding and developed new relationships with UNESCO, World Tourism Organization and ICOMOS (International Committee on Monuments and Sites). We expect these to additional paid work.

Strategic Plan
Please look at the Strategic Planning page in this report and see if you have any updates to make based upon your efforts related to those tasks. Please let Jim Covel know of any updates at JCovel@mbayaq.org.
