3. Member Update

Membership at the end of September was 5159 with 146 new members and 164 renewals. As you can tell when you look over the numbers for the past few months, we have had a large fluctuation in the memberships. This, as you’ve probably heard before, is a major result of the memberships that are included with nonmember NIW registrations from this and previous years. This fluctuation will continue for the rest of the year.

The NIW is quickly approaching and registrations are picking up. With the changes that had to be made due to Hurricane Katrina, a lot of time has been spent moving registrants out of canceled off-sites and Wednesday night special events into other activities. We have most conference attendees moved out of the canceled events, but are still waiting to hear from a few.

If you have not signed up for the workshop yet, please do so. We have made it very easy for regional directors and section chairs, just go to http://www.interpnet.com/niw2005/ and follow the registration link. Choose the “special registration” category to get your discounted rate.

Look forward to seeing you all soon!

Sincerely,
Jamie
