Certification
The survey mentioned in last month’s staff report did not
go out as planned; however, it will be completed in the coming
month. As we continue the internal audit and update of the certification
database, letters were sent to all individuals who have not recertified
when due to determine why they had not recertified and to remind
them to do so. The letter will be followed up by a phone call if
necessary. This approach has yielded several recertifications from
people who had simply forgotten or previously ignored the e-mail
reminder.
Tim and I taught a Host Trainers class in Portland, Oregon, followed
by a CIT class in Newport, Oregon, followed by a CIP class in Fort
Collins. All were well-attended and have led to invitations for
additional classes and speaking engagements on behalf of NAI.
Here are the latest figures on the certification program.

We have prepared the budget for 2007 without a Beijing office.
It has become apparent that opening such an office will require
start-up funding from an outside source, so the business plan for
that office has been included as an addendum to the 2007 NAI business
plan instead of being incorporated into it.
The first deadline is approaching for IWH registration. When that
deadline passes (mid-November), we will begin posting the numbers
for IWH 2007 on the website.
Contracts & Speaking Engagements
Tim and I spent the last week of September in Arkansas and Cleveland,
where we spoke to 70 Arkansas state park superintendents and administrative
staff, and then did a two-day consult for Cleveland Metroparks
as a followup to the June CIP class.
Respectfully submitted,
