NAI Awards Programs
NAI's professional and media awards recognize excellence in the field of interpretation. Nominations can be made in the spring for each award, and awards are given at the NAI National Workshop.
Interpretive Media Competition
Media Awards
Media awards are presented during a ceremony at the NAI National Workshop.
Did your site create an innovative interpretive curriculum, ingenious wayside exhibit, intriguing site publication, or an excellent interpretive panel in 2007? The 2008 Interpretive Media Awards celebrate the best of 2007 interpretive media.

Be sure to give it the applause it deserves (especially since it can’t speak for itself, metaphorically speaking) and submit it to the Media Awards Competition. The deadline for submissions is at the end of May.

Click here for submission information and a list of recent award recipients.

The Interpretive Media Awards Competition is brought to
you by the National Association for Interpretation and its
Interpretive Media Section to promote excellence in the
delivery of natural, cultural, and historical nonpersonal interpretive
services. Through the exchange of ideas we increase the level of excellence in our profession.

The awards are given out on Thursday evening, and the evening's entertainment is sponsored by the NAI Cultural Interpretation/Living History Section.

NAI Professional Awards and Awards Banquet
Professional Awards
NAI's professional awards are presented during the workshop's culminating event, the awards banquet and dance. (Above: Douglas Knudson accepts the 2007 NAI Fellow award from President Evie Kirkwood.)
NAI recognizes outstanding achievements and showcases the successes of NAI members and others working to advance the profession of interpretation. As a member of NAI, you are exposed to outstanding and inspiring programs and professionals.

Please nominate someone you know and respect. The deadline for nominations is at the end of May.

Click here for nomination information and a list of past award recipients.

The awards banquet on Saturday night is the workshop’s culminating event, where attendees come together to celebrate the successes of our interpretive peers through the presentation of NAI’s professional awards.

Awards presented include the NAI Fellow, Master Interpretive Manager, Master Front-Line Interpreter, Outstanding New Interpreter, Outstanding Senior/Retired Interpreter, and Outstanding Interpretive Volunteer. The evening features great food, dancing, and music. This is an event you won’t want to miss.
