Training FAQ

Please see our step-by-step instructions  on how to register for a training course.
Yes! Please see our step-by-step instructions  on how to register for a training course. The instructions for how to register someone else start about halfway down the document.
There are three ways you can pay for a training course:
  1. You can pay using your credit card when you register online.
  2. You can email our Certification Programs Administrator at certification@interpnet.com for a paper registration form if you need to pay by check. However, we will not hold a seat for you until we receive your paperwork and check. If the course is full at that time, you will not be registered, and your check will be destroyed.
  3. If you would like to pay by wire transfer, you can email our Certification Programs Administrator at certification@interpnet.com for a paper registration form and wire instructions. There will be a $25 wire transfer fee added to your registration. However, we will not hold a seat for you until we receive your paperwork and money transfer. If the course is full at that time, you will not be registered, and your funds will be returned.

Professional Certification Fees

Application fees for professional certifications purchased without a class are non-refundable.

No, our registration fees do not typically cover room and board. If there is an exception, you will see that information under the “Lodging” section of the registration webpage for that course.

Depending on the offering (Process of Interpretive Planning, Coaching Interpreters, Social Interpretation, etc.), NAI conducts at least 2-3 of each of these workshops a year. Workshops whose details have been finalized are listed on the Certification and Training Calendar. If you don’t find a listing there, feel free to contact the Certification and Training Manager at training@interpnet.com for tentative offerings. For the Social Interpretation course contact our Deputy Director at pcaputo@interpnet.com.

If you are interested in bringing a training workshop to your area/site, please see our Host A Training webpage.
To sign up for the NAI Book Club, please go to our Book Club webpage. This site lists our current offerings and includes information on how to sign up.

Participants are generally given two months to read a particular selection and the Book Club discussion is held at a time when the greatest number of current participants can join. Our Certification and Training Program Manager uses an online scheduler to determine which date/time works for the group. If you are signed up for the current selection, you can look for an email from NAI about two weeks prior to schedule our discussion.

Absolutely! We’d love to hear your ideas on good books you’ve read or heard that might benefit our profession. Please email our Certification and Training Program Manager at training@interpnet.com any ideas you might have.

NAI developed this program in partnership with the Eppley Institute for Parks and Public Lands at Indiana University. For more information on how the program works see our Intermediate Methods in Interpretation webpage.

Anyone who registers ahead of time will receive an email with login information two days prior to the day of the session. If you register within 48 hours, the system will send you login information the morning of the webinar. Additionally, registration closes 24 hours prior, but for last minute registrations, please contact our Certification and Training Program Manager at (888) 900-8283 ext.803.

Yes. NAI does not provide a group rate to watch a webinar, regardless of your membership type. Please sign up each person individually, especially if they are certified, as only folks who login separately will receive continuing education credit for attending.

If a site has registered participants individually but wants to host a viewing party, they can do so. Using one person’s login (please do not login as a site), they will access the webinar. Then, after the webinar, a manager, supervisor, etc. must email NAI the names of who attended to training@interpnet.com within one day in order to give them credit for viewing the content.

You have 30 days from the last day of your PIP course to send in your Application for Professional Certification. If you do not submit within 30 days, you will not be able to use the Interpretive Plan score from the course towards your certification.

You can find your events in your NAI account, under My Account and then My Activities.  Any activities that have happened within a year may not show up but they are in the database. This also applies to reviewer credits. When you go into the Recertification Portal  there is also a list of NAI events that you have attended.
