About InterpTech

NAI and California State Parks are partnering once again to bring you three days of innovation, interpretation, and technology. The third annual InterpTech conference will explore the intersection of technology and interpretation. The conference will take place April 30 to May 3, 2018, at Asilomar State Park/Conference Grounds on the Monterey Peninsula.

The event opens the evening of Monday, April 30, with Digital Media Madness, a reception and showcase of the latest and greatest in technology that can enhance interpretation. May 1-3, we're putting together a schedule of cutting-edge presenters and special events that we'll announce soon. We'll wrap up in the early afternoon on Thursday, May 3.

Award-winning filmmaker talks techniques, visual storytelling, and interpretation

InterpTech 2018 will feature Sylvie Rokab, an Emmy-nominated, award-winning documentary filmmaker with over 20 years experience as a producer, director, cinematographer, editor, and writer in film and television. Sylvie is the founder of In the Light Productions, a film production company committed to creating conscious films that entertain, educate and inspire.
InterpTech participants will have the opportunity to screen the acclaimed documentary Love Thy Nature, narrated by Liam Neeson, followed by a question-and-answer session with Sylvie, the film's director, writer, and cinematographer.

Sylvie started her career editing shows for HBO and Comedy Central and later moved on to serve as a director of photography on several projects for PBS and the Travel Channel, where she was able to creatively express her intense passion for nature.

Sylvie has been a recipient of numerous foundation and government grants and has earned Telly, Aurora, and Communicator Awards among others. She holds an M.A. from Barry University and studied film production at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.

A native of Rio de Janeiro, Sylvie currently resides in Los Angeles, having made the U.S. her home for 27 years. Raised by French and Italian parents born in Egypt, she is fluent in five languages and a worldwide traveler. Thanks to her eclectic, multi-cultural background, Sylvie embraces universality in her filmmaking and seeks to inspire a global audience.
