As we celebrate our 30th anniversary this year, the theme for the
2018 NAI National Conference, “It’s Our Time,” is an opportunity to
reflect on the important role interpretation has played in the past, to
analyze the profession in the present, and how we can improve to shape a
better future.
What has interpretation’s role been over time?
How is our now influenced by the past? How are threats such as changing
landscapes and disappearing resources – cultural and natural – shaping
our present? How will they shape our future? Will reflecting on the past
and looking at the present help us give a voice to the voiceless places
and subjects we interpret?
New Orleans a city
steeped in history is celebrating its 300th anniversary in 2018—making
it the perfect backdrop for NAI 2018, as we think about how “It’s Our
Time” to step forward and use our voices to help shape the important
decisions for the future!
