2018 Sunny Southeast Regional Interpreters Workshop

Interpretation on the Edge
NAI’s Sunny Southeast Region invites all interpreters, both cultural and natural, to the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Come network with your colleagues at the University of North Carolina’s Coastal Studies Institute in Skyco. Our theme, “Interpretation on the Edge” focuses on finding innovative and creative ways to engage our audiences.

Enjoy breath-taking views of the marsh and sound at a LEED certified facility while learning from one another. Travel to local sites, both natural and cultural, during field trips. Be inspired by National Park Service speakers. Help us plan for next year’s workshop!

Your full workshop registration fee includes:

  • Tuesday evening at NC Aquarium-Roanoke Island
  • Participation in concurrent sessions at CSI
  • Snacks Tuesday night, Wednesday during day and Friday morning
  • Lunch and Dinner Wednesday

Single day registrations do not include dinner.

What to Bring:

  • reusable water bottle
  • coffee mug
  • lunch bag if going on field trips
  • old conference name tag that we will fill or you can trade
  • auction Items
  • Warm clothes for changeable weather and outside events


Call For Volunteers
If you are planning on attending the workshop, please consider volunteering a little of your time to help make this a dynamite experience! You can sign up to be a volunteer when you register. Workshop volunteers needed:

  • Room Monitor
  • Auction Helpers (Live and Silent Auctions)
  • Special events set-up /clean-up
  • Registration

CANCELLATIONS must be made in writing by email to Paul.Mazzei@ncaquariums.com no later than February 6, 2018. There will be a non-refundable processing fee of $50. After that date, refunds will be given only by review of the regional leadership.
