Culturally Sensitive Interpretation

10:00a Pacific/1:00p Eastern (90 MINUTES)
Andy Bleckinger

Cultural interpretation can be a sensitive subject. If done poorly, visitors may feel unwelcome, left out, or even offended. Explore the concepts of cultural relativism, cultural literacy, and cultural engagement, and discover how interpretation can connect with past and present cultures in a sensitive manner.

Andy Bleckinger, CIG, is the Assistant District Manager of the San Juan Soil & Water Conservation District in the Four Corners region of New Mexico. He has been a front line interpreter for over 10 years, leading programs and partnering with community organizations in multiple culturally diverse areas.
