Now Hiring: Managing Editor, Legacy Magazine

Legacy magazine, published six times annually by the National Association for Interpretation, needs a managing editor! Legacy, NAI's premier periodical, offers a forum for professionals in the field to exchange ideas and information. Articles, columns, and commentaries deal with practical issues relevant to frontline interpreters, planners, and managers.

This is a paid contract position and entails the following responsibilities:

  • Curating content of the magazine, including reviewing and providing feedback on queries from prospective authors and (when necessary) soliciting articles from potential authors
  • Along with a team of associate editors, reviewing drafts of articles to make sure they are consistent with Legacy’s editorial standards and goals
  • Overseeing a timely production schedule
  • Providing text and images from authors to NAI’s in-house graphic designer 
  • Providing comments on final page proofs before the magazine goes to press
  • Writing a 600-word “From the Editor” column for each issue
  • Working with associate editors to establish themes for upcoming issues at the end of each year

Compensation

This annual contract position will require roughly 10 to 20 hours per month, and pays $1,500 per issue ($9,000/year for six issues).
