2016 NAI Region 10 Spring Workshop

Interpreters play an important role in the public's understanding of Cascadia. Learn how you can interpret plate tectonics, volcanoes and earthquakes, and how these geologic processes are relevant to your visitors.

Online Presenters include:
  • Oregon State University Professor Emeritus Robert J. Lillie giving the lead presentation, "Beauty from the Beast: Plate Tectonics and the Landscapes of the Pacific Northwest."
  • USGS hydrologist and author Carolyn Driedger and USGS educator Liz Westby will lead you in hands-on demonstration activities that help people understand volcanoes and volcanic hazards, and provide tips on preparing for the next event.
  • Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument Master Interpreter Todd Cullings will provide insights on proven techniques for interpreting volcanoes.
This workshop will be broadcast via Google hangouts from U.S. Geological Survey - Cascades Volcano Observatory in Vancouver, WA.

Please note that this workshop is FREE, but we do ask you to make a generous donation to the Pacific Northwest Region when you register. Donations help with regional expenses including scholarships to the NAI National Conference. We normally charge $50-60 for this spring workshop. Donation information is below.
