Breaking Barriers Into New Ground
Welcome to the Niagara Region, a land of waterfalls, vineyards, historical sites and impressive landforms. Our conference is centred in St. Catharines, “The Garden City”, just 19 kilometres from the United States border. During the week we will explore the unique landscape of the area dominated and influenced by the Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, recognizing the importance of this massive land form that stretches from New York, through Ontario, Michigan and right across to Wisconsin. It features historical and natural features that can’t be found anywhere else, and includes the famous Niagara Falls.

As interpreters we share the same challenges at our sites – funding, staffing levels, and lack of time. These barriers are preventing us from developing and presenting our best programs and events. Join your fellow Interpreters on the Niagara Escarpment to discover both new and traditional tools and techniques that can be used to help cross barriers and improve our programs.

Come and take advantage of sessions presented by special guests and your peers. Share stories and diversify your network contacts with fellow professionals in a place that defies barriers and borders.

Our home away from home will be the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Parkway Conference Centre, located in the heart of St. Catharines, just 15 minutes from the Falls and other area attractions. It is important to note that accommodations are not included as part of the registration fee, and must be arranged independently.

Standard Rooms – Starting at a rate of $102 per room per night
Two Room Suites – Starting at a rate of $169 per room per night

The above rates are quoted in Canadian funds per room, per night, maximum 4 people to a room, and are subject to 13% HST and 5% Destination Facility Fee.

Guests are to call the hotel to make their own reservation and must quote National Association of Interpretation in order to benefit from the rates listed above.

The cut-off date for making hotel room reservations is March 27th.

Check-in time is after 3:00pm (early check-in is not guaranteed but may be requested). Check-out time is 11:00am.

Reservations can be modified or cancelled 24 hours prior to arrival (by 4pm hotel local time). Cancellation after this time will be subject to an early departure fee of 50% of the room rate or $50.00, whichever is greater.

Refund requests must be made in writing. There will be a 20% service charge for refunds issued prior to the registration deadline, and a 50% service charge for refunds requested between April 10th and April 17th. No refunds will be issued after April 17th. Any refunds granted will be made following the completion of the workshop.
